Bouche (Mouth)

Bouche (Mouth) stages two female performers facing one another, separated by a piece of wood that acts as a transfer surface. As one applies red lipstick, the other takes the material from her mouth and deposits it onto the wood. Through this repetitive gesture, the red pigment becomes the trace of a feminine voice being transmitted, translated, transformed.

Symmetrical and constantly repeated, the performance reflects on the circulation of women’s voices, their mediations, and the constraints that alter their expression.
